We’re sorry to hear you had a disappointing experience. Gold electroplating creates a beautiful finish, but the plated layer is very thin and is not designed to withstand sanding during the finishing process. Because of this, we include detailed instructions along with four YouTube videos showing techniques to help preserve the plating.

Unfortunately, making the plating “thicker” is not practical for this type of product, although the plated finish holds up well under normal wear once the ring is completed properly.

Many makers have gone on to create beautiful rings with these blanks after becoming familiar with the process. With the right techniques, they can produce stunning gold-look rings at a fraction of the cost of solid gold materials.
