Black-Plated Tungsten Ring Blank

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, and I'm sorry to hear the black-plated tungsten gave you trouble.

The black plating on that blank is a thin electroplating of chrome over tungsten carbide, so any direct contact from sandpaper or a rotary tool bit will remove it — even with a light touch, which is genuinely frustrating mid-project. Here are two things that help: leave the inlay domed just slightly above the ring surface so your sanding tools never touch the plating, and consider covering the flat surface with heat-resistant tape as extra insurance while you sand.

We suggest trying again because many of our customers have learned the techniques to successfully create with these beautiful ring blanks. The plating holds up really well to normal, daily use.
